LOCAL HISTORY CHALLENGE FAQ
How do you play?
Grab a game board at the circulation or reference desks (One per family for those who are traveling together). The instructions are on the front of the board if you get confused. You have until October 13th to visit as many sites and complete as many challenges as possible. The addresses to each site are on the back. Hand in your game board by October 13th to get a participation prize and be entered into the raffle.
I grabbed a game board for each of my children. Do we all get raffle tickets?
If traveling together, we recommend picking up one game board to share. We will count 1 game board per family for raffle tickets. However, each person will receive a participation prize when the game board is returned.
Do the sites on this game board cost money?
The sites with no asterisk are free and open from dawn until dusk. The sites that have an asterisk cost money, but also are museum pass sites. Most passes at least offer a discounted admission rate while others are free. You can find our museum passes here: https://derrypl.org/museum-passes
IF YOU DO NOT SEE THE PARK LISTED, LOOK UNDER THE NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE PARKS PASS.
The Woodman Museum Site is on my game board but there is no pass. What gives?
We apologize for the confusion. Our museum passes come and go. You can replace that one with the John Wingate Weeks Historic Site.
The Woodman Museum also has a challenge attached. What can I put there?
The John Wingate Weeks Site challenge will be “Name one of the peaks you can see from the Weeks Estate.”
What are the participation prizes?
You can choose one of the following: a marble, a beeswax candle, or a rock candy
