Get an early jump on “Shark Week” and learn about the shark species that can found in the Gulf of Maine to include the New Hampshire seacoast and neigboring Massachusetts. Over a dozen species of sharks are regularly encountered in local waters. These range from the lowly dogfish, the bane of deep-sea fishing trips, to the Basking Shark, the second largest species of shark in the world. The discussion will also cover the immature Great White Sharks that have taken to cruising cruise off Plum Island and Salisbury Beach in the summer months, along with other pelagic hunters like Blue and Thresher Sharks.
