Every year, 12,000 patients are diagnosed with life-threatening blood cancers or diseases for which a blood stem cell transplant from an unrelated donor may be their only chance at a cure. Be The Match is a community of donors, volunteers, health care professionals and researchers who deliver cures by helping patients get the life-saving blood stem cell transplant they need. The Be The Match Registry® is the world’s most diverse donor registry. Every search through Be The Match provides patients with access to more than 39 million potential donors and nearly 806,000 cord blood units throughout the world. The public can join the Be The Match Registry today by visiting the Derry Public Library on Saturday, March 11th between the hours of 10am and 1pm. The only qualifications to join are that individuals must be between the ages of 18-40 and in generally good health. With a simple cheek swab you get added to the registry and you could get a call if someone needs you. There are thousands of patients waiting for a matched donor right now. What if you’re a match?
